WEEE Recycling at Beattys

What is WEEE recycling?

WEEE recycling is the safe collection and treatment of Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment, such as old appliances, electronics, and batteries. Instead of throwing these items in the bin, they are dismantled and recycled to recover materials and prevent environmental harm. This includes large items like fridges, washing machines, and cookers and smaller products such as kettles, toasters, hairdryers, and power tools.

Can I recycle my old appliances at Beattys?

Yes. Beattys will take back your WEEE on a one-for-one, like-for-like basis free of charge at the time of delivery or our store.

Do you take back batteries?

Yes. Waste batteries are taken back in store on a one-for-zero basis (no purchase required) if they are of the equivalent type to those we sell. This includes AA, AAA, C, D and button cell batteries. We cannot accept industrial or car batteries.

Do I need to have made a purchase at Beattys?

For battery recycling, no purchase is required. For WEEE take-back, it must be like-for-like with an item you are buying from us.

Can you collect my old appliance?

Yes. If you are getting a new appliance delivered by Beattys, we will take back your old one for recycling. Please ensure items are clean, disconnected, kerbside, and ready for our driver.

What else can I do with old electrical goods or batteries?

You can bring WEEE, waste batteries, and light bulbs to your local civic amenity site free of charge. Find your nearest site here: weeeireland.ie.

Why shouldn’t I put WEEE or batteries in my bin?

These items must be recycled to prevent harm to the environment and to recover valuable resources. Never place WEEE, batteries or light bulbs in household bins.
